Update from October to Now

So, as a birthday gift to Steven in October, I said I'd watch the kids on Saturday night so they could have a date night. . Well, we out to the farm and cleared out the last of the crops. We then came home and they left on their date and I was in charge. We headed to McDonald's to rent a redbox dvd--as we are getting out of the car I hear pshhhh from the rear passenger side. Here's the picture I took of the tire.

Turns out I called them and they came to McDonald's to fix the tire and the kids got McDonald's for dinner. . They were in HEAVEN. We then got it all fixed and they went back on their way and we headed home. What a date, let me tell you.

I've made a couple more cakes since the wedding cake. Here are the results.

First we have Bryson's birthday cake--3-D R2D2. He absolutely LOVED it.

Next we have a Chocolate Lover birthday cake for Dawn. I thought this one out and how can you go wrong with LOTS of candy on it?!?

And last of all, We got Hayden's birthday cake--Sonic the Hedgehog.

Let's see, I've been working 12-9 at the Phone Bank. That takes pretty much my whole day. Overall doing great, fighting a horrible cold I guess you can call it. So voice is typically gone, but the drainage is there unlike before there was none.

Thanksgiving was great. Kjersti came out and chilled all week. I got to spend the morning with her and worked my little heart out while she played. I got to help her with a HUGE project and I really enjoyed. I wonder if there is a job out there where you can get projects ready or assist on projects without the stress part. I kinda sorta miss school.

5K Run--Barber to Boise--October 17th

So after moving out to Boise in September, Tammy and Steven were asking Chris and Dawn if they wanted to run in a 5K. I listened but never got questioned luckily. So a couple days later, Tammy asked if I wanted to run in a 5K called Barber to Boise. I seriously just laughed. She encouraged me and I asked if I could be in shape enough to do it by October 17th. She said, Oh yeah, a month is plenty of time. Well, we started going out each morning at 6:15 to walk. Over time we started to run 2 minutes, walk 1 minute. Then she got all crazy and wanted to go out at 6:00 AM, but I went.

So morning of the race, the whole night I kept getting charlie horses and didn't really eat anything before we ran. I'd say a MAJOR mistake. We went to the Barber to Boise, and I was getting all nervous and began rambling on like right now and telling her I'd see her at the finish line. Don't wait for me, etc, etc. She kept telling me we were going to complete it together. We used the same system as when we were going out in the mornings. I was feeling bad because I felt I was holding her back from finishing in a decent time. Tammy was so encouraging and kept cheering me on. But we hung in there together. We completed the race in 47 minutes. To wrap up the race, we did a lap around Boise State University Stadium and then on the track. Boy was I hurting and EXHAUSTED and thristy and kinda hungery.

Steven, Hayden, Bryson, and Cameron were there to see us finish the race and tell us how good we did. Was it worth it? To me yes, I never thought I'd run a 5K in my life. I'm ready for the off season, but as Tammy informed me running doesn't have a season. Now she is all crazy talking about doing more races--Turkey Run (i'm guessing a November race); prepare for next year and possibly doing a 10K? Yeah, I'm going to stick to the 5K for now, but who knows what will happen in the end.

Before the race began. . .waiting for the gun to go off.

After the race. . .

My exhausted, what was I thinking face

But proud I finished and did it look.

And I got an awesome shirt. A way good accomplishment for myself and I'm glad Steven and Tammy were so encouraging.

The FINAL Cake

I'm so proud of my baby...

Wedding Cake Success. . .

So i finshed the cake. When I actually started seriously workign on it, I'd say it took 3 hours to complete the three tiers which included frosting, mixing fondant, placing the fondant, and assembling the real cake--layer by layer. I must say I kinda sorta enjoyed it. SHHH, i'm not going into business by the way. Rachelle and Burke LOVED it! ! ! That made it even more worth it.

My best friend in Boise

This is my friend that I pass every week on my way to church. When I moved out Kjersti and I were driving back and we stop at the corner and she says, "Hey Alicia, there's your best friend" I'm all looking around and saying, silly, they don't live out here, they are still at home until school starts. Anyways, she proceeds to direct my head to the llamas. . so everytime I pass by, I have great memory. Any they are kinda funny to watch.

September News

Well, it's been awhile since I've blogged...Let's see. Here is a current picture of me--I look good and CUTE might I add.

Prior to September 5th--I put my last day into work and am moving to Boise to work in the phone bank for Wells Fargo. I'm transferring.

September 5th--last day at Wells Fargo in Rexburg, ID. After work I left for Boise, ID. I'm moving into Steven and Tammy's house. I have a week off until I start my new job at the Wells Fargo Phone Bank in Boise, ID. From the house, it takes about 15 minutes to get to my job. AND I don't deal with much traffic since I go in at 12:30 to 9:00 during training. I will be in training for 6 weeks and then I go to the floor to take on phone calls daily. They say in a shift you will take about 100 calls. When I start my floor work, I will work 12:00 to 9:00. Not the best shift, but it's a start.

Week of the 7th--A week off with nothing to do is WONDERFUL. I thoroughly enjoyed just chilling at the house. I took a nap every day and it was divine. I helped Christ and Dawn move from one house to the other. Then Sunday went to the primary program for Porter, then traveled back to Meridian to watch the Primary program for Hayden and Bryson.

Week of the 14th--Started my new job. Wow, that is a long shift. With a week of naps, I got into so bad habits of needing a nap each day, but turns out it is right in the middle of my shift. Lunches are thirty short minutes, but I'm managing. To think I used to complain about having an hour and what to do. Now, not enough time. The drive isn't bad at all. It takes me about 10 minutes from the house to work and back. And I thought traffic would be horrible, bumper to bumper, but it's not at all.

I survived my first week of Phone Banking. It has been a little bit of a roller coaster for me, but I'm surviving. I was unable to get onto the computer the first 4 days of work. That was really annoying let me tell you. So I did a lot of watching and looking on. When I finally got on, it was amazing. But I felt so far behind.

The second week of training, we listened to phone calls to help us be prepared to take our own next week. Turns out they start slow by listening to calls, then take 2 hours of calls the next week, and then to four hours of calls, to taking six hours of calls, all with a phone banker coach--at least I'm not going slow to help real customers by myself.

I have been helping out where I can. I drove Bryson and his carpool to the house for preschool while Tammy was sick. They all called me Aunt Alicia like Bryson. Way cute. Entertained Cameron while Tammy held preschool at the house another week. He is a hoot. Cute little guy. So happy and content. Any chance he can get to be in my room he takes. Actually all the kids do...so adorable.

Going to the pumpkin patch with Bryson and his play groups.

I tried to find Wal-Mart by myself one night--BAD IDEA... I left about eight o'clock at night, not really dark but got dark quick. I was gone for hour and a half with much of the time traveling down the wrong roads. I should have just stuck to WinCo which is just across the interstate. But I made it back. not much sightseeing unless Tammy or Steven was driving. I'm ok just knowing how to get to work and home.

I am making a wedding cake in one week for my friend Rachelle and Burke. I was working on it last Saturday. Quite funny to me. First, Hayden and Bryson wanted to play the WII and the more chores they do they more tiem they earn. As Steven was heading out to mow the grass, Hayden says, "I'm ready to get my haricut. (that was the last thing Hayden and the boys had to do to play) so Steven turns back around to start cutting hair. I was making cakes and while the second layer was cooking, I volunteered to mow while they cut hair. As I was outside mowing, Cameron was FREE roaming while the hair cuts were going on. He was a little hungry and scooted the stool to the island. Got a plate out of the drawers and climbed up to help himself to the cake. Tammy was freaking out so brought him out to apologize. The way she talked sounded like there was a HUGE hole in the middle. . .Here are the results.

Actually the whole in the middle was smaller from taking it out of the pan, but with all the picking and taste testing, it got huge, but not from Cameron. He assisted the side, but I'm pretty chill with most things, so I just laughed about it to be honest.

Way cute if you ask me. So I decided to cut the cake in half and use it as a layer.

So instead of a 14 inch three layer cake, I did half of a 14 inch. it is still sitting in the freezer while I decide what I want to do frosting wise. BUT don't fear, I am making the 14 inch through out this week so it is ready to take over to Rexburg to assemble for the wedding on the 9th of October.

Here is Cameron eating the cake that was free game to all...

Different cakes I've made in the last seven months--

James' birthday cake in March. Little lego pieces.

Cake I made for Robin's Birthday on June 1st. It was so cute and one of my favorites.

Cake for Kyrie's Baby Shower--we both worked on it. Here baby was due July 4th, but came on the 6th.

Cake for Shannon, I visit and taught her back in Rexburg, ID.

THURSDAY June 11th

It's been awhile since I've updated my blog. I have been workingat teh bank and a new hire began on Wednesday, so that has been interesting. Kristy, my boss, has been on PTO, so it's been a little bit crazy lately. But she is back today and I have the day off and not sure what to do with all my free time. So I have been chilling on Jaymi's couch ALL day, pretty much. It's been amazing.

Church is good. Teaching temple prep is good. I have a young gal that submitted her mission papers a week ago so and anxiously awaiting her call. She's taken the class before, wanted to take it again before she goes through.

Other than that, I really got nothing. I just eat, sleep, drink Wells Fargo. Loads of fun, let me tell you. Well that's all I got, hope all is well. Take care.

OH....I'm funny

So I like to change my names sometimes and I got this link to a youtube video about ghetto names, well the one I picked is like number 57--La Quisha...to those who were there--hilarious, others might not think so..Enjoy.

To the Land of OZ

(Alicia and Jaymi--in Little America Restroom--picture by Hayden)

(Hayden, Cameron, Bryson--watching CLONE WARS--a must have on a car ride)

Well, I'm currently sitting at the hotel in Rawlins, WY updating my blog. We are headed to LARNED, KANSAS. In the Carlton-wagon, we gots Steven--pilot, Tammy--co-pilot, Hayden--5 yrs, Bryson--4 yrs, Cameron--2 yrs, Jaymi--back seat sitter, and me--back seat sitter. We have had plenty of emergency stops along the way. To keep it clean, there were lots of wipes involve and urgent stops. We made it and called it a night before all the kids fell asleep. Departure time is estimated for 6:30 AM. The kids are excited to be in the hotel and wonder why they have to sleep on the floor. It's pretty comical. Well, I'm off to rest and begin another exciting day in the Carlton-wagon. Stay tuned...oh yeah, we are going out for the youngest Carlton's graduation--BRIAN!!! Ok, peace out...

Ponder this one...

So in my recovering, I have been thinking alot about how my medicine is the answer to my healing and relating that to the atonement is our medicine to become perfect. I have always loved MICHAEL MCLEAN and this really summarizes what I've been thinking... I'll add more in a bit. Time for the meds...

She Doesn't Know
by Michael McLean

May 01, 2009So with mother’s day fast approaching I’ve been thinking about the great women in my life who’ve made such a remarkable difference and yet may not know how changed I’ve been by them. I seriously doubt there’s a person reading this who doesn’t know a wonderful person who has no idea how wonderful they really are....in fact, it’s almost impossible to tell them how great their terrificness is without them deflecting the compliment to someone more worthy of the praise. And they’re not being falsely modest or incredibly humble...they just don’t believe it.
If you have someone like this in mind I’ll betcha it’s a woman.

Might be your mom, might be a friend. Probably it’s you. I don’t know why it is, but it’s so hard for most of us to see the positive impact of our everyday lives. We see the screw-ups pretty clearly, and we can remember them, in detail, for decades. It’s the everyday, just regular good stuff about ourselves that never gets celebrated. Maybe that’s why IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE keeps making us cry year after year.

I remember somebody telling me once that most songwriters only write one or two songs, and then basically write them over and over again using different melodies and words. That might be true for me. Sometimes I feel like my internal wiring just picks up on others’ goodness and flashes a message to the rest of my soul: RIGHTEOUSNESS ALERT!! WARNING, WARNING!! YOU’RE STANDING ON HOLY GROUND. HUMAN COMPASSION AT THREE O’CLOCK, COMPLETELY UNAWARE OF ITS DEGREES OF GOODNESS!!!

Along with this special wiring I also have a radar for those who beat themselves up, and sometimes for the tiniest of mistakes. It isn’t that these folks are by nature negative...they just have a magnifying glass in their brain when it comes to shortcomings.

Because I’ve seen this for so many years in so many different people...predominantly women I’ve known and admired and loved...I decided to smile at them and honor them in the same song.

Quarter to seven on a Thursday night
She’s running late again
She gets a ticket ‘cause she ran the light
Racing to help a friend
Then she remembers a promise made
A couple of weeks before
She’d bake the brownies for the PTA
But she’s run out of time
So she gets hers from the store

Quarter to seven on a Friday night
She’s running late again
What can she wear that’s gonna look just right
At the party she’s throwing for him?
Living on rice cakes and Diet Coke
She hasn’t lost that much
Her dress is too tight and her hair’s a joke
But the party’s a hit
‘Cause it had her magic touch

And she doesn’t know
That she’s an angel in disguise
And she doesn’t know
That we see heaven in her eyes
And she doesn’t know that she’s all right
She might have been blinded by the light
Of all the good that she does
That she doesn’t know

She’s been worried ‘bout the kids next door
Since the breakup last fall
Got them some T-shirts from a Hard Rock store
That they haven’t worn at all
Reading the paper about some plight
Plaguing a distant shore
Pulls out her checkbook and starts to write
And feels guilty she doesn’t send more

She doesn’t focus on the good she does
All she sees is where she’s failed her part
Can’t she see that we think she’s a saint
Because she’s givin’ all she has straight from her heart

Quarter to seven on a Sunday morn
She’s on her knees again
Aching for all who’ve been bruised and torn
She’s pleading for help for them
She has a rather extensive list
Of those she’s been praying for
But then she remembers the ones she missed
How sorry she feels once more

‘Cause she doesn’t know
That she’s an angel in disguise
And she doesn’t know that we see
Heaven in her eyes
And she doesn’t know that she’s all right
She might have been blinded by the light
Of all the good that she does
But she doesn’t see it because

She hits a traffic jam on a carpool morn
And feels guilty what she’s thinkin’
When she honks her horn
She wrote a sympathy note for her dear friend, Grace
But got it lost somewhere in cyberspace
And at the charity auction when she wanted to help
She raised her hands so many times she sort of bid against herself
She got the casserole made for her friend who was sick
But then apologized because the crust was too thick
She’s runnin’ to the soccer and the baseball games
She cheers for the teams but forgets their names
She doesn’t know that she’s a miracle
She doesn’t know her love is lyrical
She doesn’t know this song’s for her to hear
She doesn’t know that we are so sincere
She doesn’t know that she’s the best
She doesn’t know she’s passed the test
She doesn’t know, she doesn’t know
She doesn’t know

Could this possibly be you that this song is about? Could you be the angel in disguise in someone else’s life? Are you so busy doin’ the best you can that you’re blinded by the light of your own goodness?

If you’re answering “no” to these questions, and making a mental list of all the things on your list that haven’t yet been accomplished, will you just stop it...at least for a moment...and work with me on this.

Pretend for now, just pretend, that you’re the person in this song.

Quit laughing, we’re pretending. Get out the music and put it on your stereo. Crank it up and listen. Not with your ears but with your heart.

I’ll wait.

There was a moment, wasn’t there, while you were pretending, when something happened that was so touching it almost hurt to keep listening. The thought Could it be true? crossed your mind... Could you actually be that wonderful and that stupid at the same time?

Yes, you could, and you are, and that’s one of the reasons people love you so much. You’re a human being who makes mistakes and falls short and can’t quite get as much done as you want to in a day and guess what? If you weren’t here we’d be crying our eyes out because we’d miss you so much. We’d miss the way you laugh and the way you get mad at people that hurt others. We’d miss the stories you tell of your misadventures. We’d miss how blessed we’d feel when you pray for us. We’d miss the look on your face when you scoop the hot fudge directly out of the little pitcher and take it straight. We’d miss the way you sing along with Celine in the car when you don’t think anyone’s watching. We’d miss the way your eyes look when you’ve heard about someone’s heartache and the way your jaw tightens when you want to get revenge. We’d miss the brownies that you burned and the Mint Milanos you bought to replace them. We couldn’t stand watching Sleepless in Seattle without you. We’d miss the things we learned because of you. We’d miss the way we’ve been loved by you, even when you didn’t think you told us often enough. And we’d have felt totally cheated if we’d never known you. In fact, the world wouldn’t have a chance at being truly wonderful for us if you weren’t in it, being you.

Now that you’ve pretended that all of this is true, take a deep breath and come back to reality. Guess what? The truth hasn’t changed. Let yourself believe it.

I'm set up for surgery

Well, I was just going to let you know that I'm going under Thursday the 23rd at 9:00am. Kind of stressful, they said not to worry if the hospital didn't call til tuesday, well wednesday at four I still hadn't heard so I called the doctor's office and they gave me the hospital's number. So I called them and they said i wasn't on the list, so they would call me back. So they called and told me they fitted me in. So that's the update on that. Well, I'll have lots of time on my hands, that's for sure.

So a little humor--i was telling my boss that I have infection in my cheeks and I said, "just so you know, I'm not fat, my cheeks are infected." and she relies by saying, "i'm not fat, my bum is infected." Anyways, so that is like the new joke I tell people, I thought it was funny, hope you do too. Anyways....
So my nurse is goign to be T'naya--she's three and lives upstairs. She has already been practicing her nurse tactics on me. So hilarious. She shakes her little finger and says "don't do that alicia, traven will." That's her brother who is four. So adorable. But Drenda, my sister in law is going to take me down and wait the four to five hours for me. But I think I gots a good support group. . . they all are askign me to call them and I'm thinking, I don't think you'll be able to understand me or I'll be coherant enough. . .but it'll be a blessing for sure.

I am a little worried about what I say when I'm knock out--well since they will be working on my face, I probably won't have to worry too much about what I say...it could be interesting...I'll make sure they tell me so I can report on it.

Well, I'm going to head out...take a nice warm shower and chug some water before I'm on the operating table. Thank you for your prayers. You are teh best...take care and I love you so much.

uDaTe As Of ApRiL 14tH

So...You have probably been dying to know what is going on with me. I went this morning to get my CT scan for my endoscopic sinus surgery. I took the results to the doctor and he scheduled the surgery. I have a deviated secturm, polyups to remove, infection in my checks that should diminish after the surgery. Along with this, he's going to take my tonsils out and shorten my uvula. So I'll be out from work for at least 2 weeks. He said the sinus surgery won't bother me at all, it'll be the tonsils and uvula that causes the pain. Oh boy, I'm so excited. NOT, but am. . .He said that my headaches should be small if any because now they are being caused by the infection in my checks and not being able to breathe. Also, my snoring will be minimuzed and I'll be able to breathe in my sleep instead of my uvula rattling away in my swollen throat. A cure for my sleep apnea too. Crazy.

So if any of you remember me having rhinorhea?!? Defintion is as follows, Rhinorrhea, commonly known as a runny nose, consists of an unusually significant amount of nasal discharge. It is a symptom of the common cold and of allergies (hay fever). The term comes from the Greek words "rhinos" meaning "of the nose" and "rhoia" meaning "a flowing." Rhinorrhea can also be a sign of withdrawal, such as from opioids (especially methadone).[1] Symptoms display circadian rhythms.[2]
David's wedding me losing my voice and the doctore saying I was allergic to Kansas.

Well, it is all fitting together that it is related to 8 years ago to my current conditions. Weird, huh? Anyways, that's the DL from me. Oh yeah, my surgery is Thursday April 23rd. So yeah there you go. Any questions?

Update on Sleep Test

So I got my test results back a week or so ago. So the results are that in an hour on average, I stop breathing 4 times and my snoring arouses my sleep so that contributes to why I don't get into the different levels of sleep. Some answers to why I take cat naps when I should be deep sleeping and having dreams. So I went to the ENT(Ear, Nose, Throat) Doctor on the 10th and he said that we will do a surgery when i get back to idaho. It will be a sinus surgery. Says I have a mix of allergies, polyps, and a crocked nose. So my airway in my nose is very small and so while he goes in and fixes that he'll take my tonsils out too. Says since I'm out might as well and then they will be taken care of. So on April 14th, I have my CT Scan and then schedule the surgery. I'm supposed to be out for 2 weeks from work before I head back, but who knows how long that will last.

Here is the general procedure:
The first step is a CT scan of your sinuses. This scan is very similar to other CT scans routinely employed for sinus disease diagnosis, and does not require any special devices or equipment. After the CT scan, images from the CT scanner will be transferred into the computer system. Your surgeon will use these images to plan the best surgical approach before the actual procedure. When your surgery begins and you are under general anesthesia, your surgeon places a special tracking device on your head. By touching a few points on your face with a special instrument, the surgeon gives the computer system physical "landmarks" for the location and position of your head. This registration process is necessary in order for the system to compare preoperative scans with your anatomy during surgery. The entire procedure, which is done on an outpatient basis, takes approximately between 30 and 90 minutes.

CHARLTON, MASSACHUETTS

I leave for Boston at 6 AM from Rexburg to get to the airport in Idaho Falls, ID. At 8 AM I board my first plane to head to Boston. I switch planes in St. Paul, Minnesota for about 1 1/2 hours then back on a plane to Boston where I should arrive approximately 5:05 PM,(Eastern Time)/3 PM(Mountain Time)... My brother-in-law, J.L. will pick me up and we will head to the homefront in Charlton, MA. . .stay updated here for the next 18 days which is March 28th when I head back to Rexburg, ID. YEAH, I'm so excited, let the fun begin with flying (my luck is not good usually). I love you all and talk to you later.

UpDaTe ON mE! ! !

So. . .here's a little update on me. I went to the doctor because I wasn't feeling good. Turns out I had a MINOR SINUS INFECTION. While there I was describing how I was feeling and she wanted me go to do a sleep test. Told me it would be about a week til I heard from them, so I was like ok. Well, turns out they had an opening that night February 21st. . So, I went down to the SLEEP INSTITUTE and here is my bedroom.

I had to go an hour before I go to bed so that they could HOOK me up. . .literally, so i filled out the paperwork and got ready for bed. The nurse, dude, BRET, was like, you might want to change in the bathroom, because there is a camera right in the corner so I did that and went and got wired. .here is the results. .
THE WIRES

MY FACE/HEAD

WHAT a SIGHT...so i went to sleep and all, then they woke me up about 6:30--RUDE, and said it was time to de-wire me. So after that, I got in the car and drove home. Then went to work about a hour later. Boy was I tired.
Well, On Wednesday, they called with my results. In an hour I stop breathing 4 times and 5 is bad. And I snore and it wakes me up, I know I've been denial for sooo long, but it is true I snore now... so my options are to go to a ear, nose, throat specialist and have the nose surgery that my brother Mike had OR go to the dentist and get a mouth piece made for me to wear each night. Yeah, so that's a wrap on my past two weeks so far.
I am SUPER=DUPER excited to go to BOSTON in 11 DAYS...YEAH, much needed vacation, for SURE. Well, I love you all and hope you are doing good. Take care.
